Jan. 24, 2022 — The Inkandescent Spotlight is on: Stephen & Jim Gilliland, authors of “Pushing Up: What 12 Months of Physical Challenges Taught Two Brothers About Connection, Leadership, and Purpose”

Monday Morning Magic, January 24, 2022: I can’t think of a better way to start off this week than by sharing a book that was born from a big hairy audacious goal (BHAG). The heart of the Inkandescent PR + Publishing Co. is promoting brilliant books that inspire and capture the imagination, so it is a pleasure to launch January 2022 with authors Stephen and Jim Gilliland (left to right).

Stephen explains: “In January 2020, we embarked upon a journey of crazy workout challenges that increased in intensity as the year progressed; 10,000 push-ups each in March became 30,000 push-ups by December.”

Jim adds: “At the time, we were each searching for something more – more from our relationship as brothers and more from our middle-aged bodies. And as each month passed, we discovered the unexpected gift of what it means to live more fully as connected brothers, fathers, husbands, and successful leaders.”

Now, it’s your turn to play: I am excited to share this story with you, and with Stephen and Jim invite you to “uncover scars you didn’t know you had, grow muscles and inner strength, and find authentic support in connecting more deeply with someone else.” Click here to read more about it in the January 2022 issue of Inkandescent Publishing.

I leave you with this week’s magical idea, from Pushing Up: “Research on goal setting has demonstrated that part of the power of challenging goals is that they encourage strategy development. When we ask people to do their best, they continue down the same path and do their best on that path. But when presented with a BHAG, people realize the same path won’t lead to the audacious goal. They search for new ways to do things, better ways to do things. So, challenging goals can make us not just work harder — they make us work smarter.”

Here’s to your BHAG, and your incredible, indelible, Inkandescent™ success. We’ll talk with you next Monday! — Hope Katz Gibbs, Inkandescent PR + Publishing Co.
